hey... we want to know more about your book??
ReplyDeletewhen is it getting launched??
where can i grab a copy of it?
wishing you all the best and a successful writing career ahead..
Hey.. I am going to have fun guessing whos who in the book :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the launch party!
Cheers!
Quoting you Sir,
ReplyDelete"Why don't we get everything we desire? Is it because we desire for everything? Or is it becaus there is someone out there, somewhere, who knows what is right for us. He makes sure we get everything we should get, it may not be everything we desire!"
You ended it on a perfect note. And unlike some earlier "potboilers" on IITs, your book was close to the sane reality.
And if you don't mind, 2 questions:
1) You got into I-Banking. Then how did you manage to follow your heart back into consultancy?
2) On a slightly personal level, wich of course, you may not answer. Are you in touch with Divya? (I hope you don't mind my boisterousness.)
with regards and good luck,
Himanshu (I'd rather be ur mentee than being your mentor ;) )
hi harsh it a nice experience to read this book and i feel like i have also lived in the IIMB campus with you for a few days
ReplyDeletethanx for the entertainment.
ashish

ReplyDeleteJust bought your book today after reading about it (or rather a part of it) in Career Launcher's Management Compass. Seems an interesting read, will post a review once I complete it.
ReplyDeletehi Harsh - just finished reading your book - nice one . But I would like to point out a couple of errors - on Page 100 , you have mentioned the name of the restaurent as "Koffs" , whereas it should be "Koshys" ; also on page 134 , the name of the quiz master is mentioned as Debrie Ran,whereas it should be Derek O'Brien. The book made good reading otherwise . I remember my MBA days where we had to slog to get a CGPS of even 3.3. All the best !!
ReplyDeleteHi harsh:
ReplyDeleteYour book was definetely a good read. It did bring back memories of my recently completed part-time MBA days.
Though the narrative was good, the pace laced in a few places, particularly the start of your second year. I have been reading some of your posts in various MBA forums for sometime now.... all the best and keep up the good work.
It definetely got me to write again after a long time.
Hi Harsh
ReplyDeleteI read the book..
Really you managed well..
All's well that ends well..
Keep Well..
Arun
Hi Harsh
ReplyDeleteTruly liked your book.It was so close to my MBA life and I guess for all those who have had the "MBA Experience".
Good work and all the best.
Kunal
Hi Harshdeep,
ReplyDeleteTo be really frank the book was really disappointing....
Hope the next one is much better
hi harsh
ReplyDeleteit was nice reading your book ...but i think you should have done it better !
Well, to me the book seemed to be something synonymous to "flat beer". The only thought with which i could resonate is the one on the concluding page.
ReplyDeleteThe fact is that an MBA never gives you an opportunity to discover "What lies Beneath" in the same campus. One is so lost with his own reservations/commitmments that you actually miss out on certain things, which actually deserve place in books such as "Everything you desire".
I dont know whether you actually came across with people who are high on "Bohemian" aspect, at IIM. But i am sure if you will delve into the conquests they were involved in during those two years, you will discover some interesting findings....
Best.
Rahul
Hey Harsh...
ReplyDeleteI just finished ur book last day!!
Amazingly superb... Tat was my wish 2 have a book on IIM after reading tat "FPS" on IIT.
Awesome lines:
"Why don't we get everything we desire? Is it because we desire for everything? Or is it becaus there is someone out there, somewhere, who knows what is right for us. He makes sure we get everything we should get, it may not be everything we desire!"
Very good luck... :)

ReplyDeletehello harsh, i have just finished reading your book ... to be honest it gives a rigorous and an indepth (yet somewhat boring) description of the life of a management student @ IIM-B . i really appreciate your habit paying attention to minute details.
ReplyDeletereally loved the ending ... those few lines on the last page are worth remembering for the rest of our lives. although it could hav been made a bit more interesting by mentioning some real problems , pressures faced by students from their families and wanting to do something different (like pursuing their dreams) rather than getting the usual blue collared jobs.
Hi Harsh,
ReplyDeleteI have just finished your book last night. The plot is very relative to the people who have been into any professional course in campus. Any professional can easily identify him/herself with the characters. I am just an engineer and not been into MBA yet, but after reading the book, surely I want to do that and of course from IIMB!
But one thing I want to mention that, while reading the book, there is a feeling that it is the continuation of FPS, the story of a guy who gets into IIM from IIT (DCE in this case!) and continued his story. The love affaires are quite flat and could be more interesting by inserting some spicy incidents. People are much naughtier in campuses than you described.
But it’s a good read which gives very minute details of the campus life in IIM.
Few questions at the end...
How you managed to come into consulting from the investment banking?
What happened to Divya?
Thanks,
-Saikat

ReplyDeleteHi harsh,
ReplyDeleteI read the book. I could just imagine about the culture and life at IIM. Just felt like as I was also part of it. Well, thanks for the entertainment and keep writing.
Hi Harsh,
ReplyDeleteThe thing which I really liked about this book was it only talked about IIM days unlike others where we were made to read about their summer holidays at home and their love stories out side campus etc. Although I found it boring at times especially when you wrote more about PGP2's, placement etc.
But overall a very well written book with very good pace. When is the next one coming ?
Hello Harsh,
ReplyDeletePurchased your book last week and finished this sunday. Intrestring to read about IIMB culutre and the way you have narrated specific incidents. You have not mentioned when you were writing your diary for the content mentioned in your book.Overall, nice book.
Rajesh
Hi Harsh,
ReplyDeleteI have mailed you my comments - i am half way reading your book. Eager to know what happens in the end...
Nibras
Hi Harsh,
ReplyDeleteNibras here. Great reading.
Eager to know how the life@IIMB ends. Will love to meet you sometime.
Will comment on the book in detail once i finish it.
Hi Harsh...
ReplyDeleteJust finished reading EYD... Kudos for the good work... It was really a refreshing change from so many campus based novels which are focusing on everything except studies (not that I am a studious so called pseudo intellectual). You have kept the focus on studies and career for which people join IIMs or IITs with perfect blend of campus romance
I would have preferred to see a smiling snap of yours in the book...Please smile a bit...
Once again congrats...

ReplyDeleteHey............. I am an enggg. student and i am very fond of reading Indian writers especially. When I bought this book and started reading this.....I don't find it quite interesting but as I moved ahead to the next pages....a connection is established b/w book and me....
ReplyDeletefirst time i a got a novel which is written in a such a neat and clean way..........
Is the life is same at IIM's as you mentioned in your book or its just a fiction whatever it is I like Your book dude and the message you want to spread through this book........
EVERYTHING YOU DESIRE......................
Hi Harsh,
ReplyDeleteI happened to come across your book " everything you desire".
Would like to congratulate you for a well written book ...which captures the pathos and ethos of what it is to study the flagship IIM - B course " PGP".
The title is very apt ... and one understands " why this title" only on the last page ... so much for the well kept suspense !
Also, I liked two characters tushar and dipendu (best of them all) !
Was just wondering ... the names of all the professors ... are they real ? have you changed the names of the other characters as well ?
One last point though ... there are two well defined romantic angles ..tushar Vs. priya and harsh Vs. divya ... each one ends in a different way .. and the suspense is well maintained.
Congrats on a good first novel ! thoroughly enjoyed reading the same.
Cheers
